Habitat Sarasota Builds at Home and Abroad

Did you know that three billion people worldwide live on less than $2 per day?

That is why we at Habitat for Humanity Sarasota have taken on the responsibility of building safe, decent housing for other less fortunate members of our global community.

Tithing has always been an important aspect of our mission at Habitat for Humanity Sarasota. More important, tithing is a national program endorsed by Habitat for Humanity International where all Habitat affiliates are called to participate. Thanks to your generous donations, our affiliate has been one of the top international Habitat donors.

Habitat Sarasota voluntarily donates 10% of our unrestricted funds toward international building and since our inception in 1986, we have donated over $750,000 to build over 350 houses around the world. The estimated cost for building a house overseas is only US $4,200, compared to the median cost of $59,324 in the United States.

As long as the world needs safe, decent housing, our Habitat affiliate will continue to address substandard housing throughout our global community.
